Colombo (News1st) - A Sri Lankan national who attempted to smuggle a stock of gold to Chennai was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport today.
Customs Media Spokesperson, Sunil Jayarathne said 2 gold biscuits weighing 224 grams, were found in the suspect's possession. According to Jayarathne the 2 gold biscuits are valued at over 1.3 million rupees.
The suspect is a 44 year old resident in Colombo and has been released after being charged a fine of 250,000 rupees. The Customs Media Spokesperson said that the stock of Gold was confiscated.
