Primary sections of schools in Southern Province closed down due to viral flu

Colombo (News1st) - Steps have been taken to close down the primary sections of schools in the Southern Province due to the spread of a viral flu. The Secretary to the Southern Province Ministry of Education stated that educational activities from Grades 1 to 5 at 7 educational zones in the in the Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts will be suspended till the 30th of this month. He added that preschools in these areas will remain closed until the 4th of June. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has taken steps to close down schools in the Gampaha Educational zone for today. This step has been taken due to concerns raised by parents due to the rise in water levels of the Athanagalu Oya. The education ministry notes that school will reopen on Wednesday.
