REUTERS : Australian cricket captain Tim Paine said on Monday (May 28) that match fixing claims, aired by news organisation Al Jazeera involving Australian players, were unsubstantiated. "Cricket's Match Fixers" is understood to feature an interview with an alleged match fixer, who claims that two Australian test players were involved in spot fixing in Ranchi, India last year. The documentary also alleges details of a plan to fix Australia's test against Sri Lanka at Galle in Sri Lanka in 2016. Match-fixing has become a major concern for the sport in recent years and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched an investigation. Paine's comments come as the Australian One Day International (ODI) squad prepare to depart for England, where they will play five matches beginning on June 13 at The Oval. It will be Australia's first international tour since the ball tampering scandal in South Africa.
