Rs.39mn allocated as compensation for damaged houses

COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Minister of Disaster Management speaking to reporters today (May 26) commented on the compensation that would be provided to houses damaged by the inclement weather.

According to Minister Duminda Dissanayake, they have reached a decision to provide an initial instalment of Rs. 10,000 to all houses that suffered damages and that it will commence from today (May 26). He added that their decision was to provide the affected with the 10,000 rupees to be resettled in their homes until they can ascertain the complete estimate.

Furthermore, he said that they have allocated 39 Million rupees for this purpose.
