UNP can remain in power until 2030 - PM Ranil Wickremesinghe

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Newly appointed National Organiser of the United National Party (UNP), Minister Navin Dissanayake, assumed duties at the party headquarters at Sirikotha on Thursday (May 24). Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and a number of party stalwarts attended the event. Speaking at the occasion Min. Navin Dissanayake emphasised the importance of everyone coming together to make the UNP victorious once again. Dissanayake said he had faith that the party will be able to replicate the victories that they had back in 1977. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who has been serving as the leader of the United National party for nearly 24 years stated that it is time now for the next generation of leaders to emerge. He stated that together with the people the party will be able to identify the leaders in the party and expressed confidence that the UNP would be able to remain in power till 2030. With Presidential and General elections just on the horizon, PM Wickremesinghe did not forget to take a few shots at his political opponents. He noted that the members of the flower bud party (SLPP) are attempting to bring former military personnel into power. The Prime Minister accused the members of the SLPP of attempting to re-establish the Rajapaksa regime which was rejected by the people.
