COLOMBO (News 1st) – Former Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. I. K. Mahanama, and Former Chairman of State Timber Corporation Piyadasa Dissanayake, who were arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 20 million from the owner of an Indian company, were further remanded until June 5.
The order was issued by Colombo Additional Magistrate, Ranga Dissanayake.
The Additional Magistrate further held that the order pertaining to the request made by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is to be issued on the same day.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery of Corruption has requested the court for a report to be compiled after submitting the voice recordings of suspects to government analysts, for investigations into the incident.
