Chairman & Deputy Chairman of Weligama PS arrested

Colombo (News1st) - Nine persons including the Chairman and the Deputy Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabah have been arrested. According to the Police, the suspects have been arrested on charges of obstructing Police duties on the 11th of this month when the group interfered in the official opening of the Polathu Modara bridge in Weligama. The suspects were arrested after they surrendered to the Police through a lawyer last night (May 16th). The suspects are due to be produced before the Matara Magistrates Court.
