Colombo (News1st) – According to the Met. department there is a high possibility of areas around the country experiencing afternoon thundershowers. The showers or thunder showers area expected after 2pm.

The Met. department forecasts that showers will occur in the Western and Southern provinces as well as in the Puttalam district.

Heavy falls, about 100mm can be expected at particularly in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva and Western provinces and in Polonnaruwa and Vavuniya districts.

The Met. Department also notes that there is a possibility that sea areas will be fairly rough, off the coast extending from Puttalam to Batticaloa via Colombo and Galle.

It also notes that the possibility for showers in the sea areas to the South and South-west of Sri Lanka is high during next few days.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other sea areas in the evening or night.

There is a possibility of wind speeds increasing up to 45kmph at times in the sea area extending from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar.
