Colombo (News1st) - Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe who represents the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) says that the 23 members of the party who were absent from the vote of No-confidence against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have decided to remain with the Government. Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous meeting between members of the SLFP and the President. Several meetings of this nature took place yesterday as well. Min. Samarasinghe noted that the President met with the 8 SLFP members who serve as Ministers yesterday before meeting with the 16MPs who voted in favor of the NCM. Samarasinghe noted that thereafter all 39 members met together as the Parliamentary group inorder to discuss party reforms and preparations for the May Day rally. The central committee of the SLFP convened at 8pm last night (24th April) according to Samarasinghe and a decision was reached to allow the members who were absent from the NCM vote to remain in the Government.
