COLOMBO (Newsfirst) - A group of ministers representing the United People's Freedom Alliance have released statements about crossing over to the opposition. Quoting the Secretary General of the Parliament, Newsfirst's Parliamentary Correpondent Sripal Wanniarachchi explained that, no written documents have been handed over to the Speaker by the 16 MPs who have announced their departure from the government recently. The Secretary General had explained that if the 16 MPs wanted to crossover, a number of MPs seated on the side of the Opposition would have to take their seats on the side of the government. The Secretary General of Parliament said that no final decision had been reached on the assignment of seats in Parliament as no notice had been given in writing. He further said that changes would not be made to the 3 Parliamentary Committees, including the Committee on High Posts and Parliamentary Select Committee, due to parliament being prorogued.
