Sri Lanka ranked second in South Asia in controlling Tuberculosis

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Program for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases (NPTCCD) says Sri Lanka has is ranked second in South Asia in controlling Tuberculosis. According to Dr. Lakmal Rathnayake the Colombo District Officer of the NPTCCD, the plan is to completely eradicate tuberculosis from the country by the year 2035. The reports state that in 8,511 patients were diagnosed with Tuberculosis in Sri Lanka last year. Dr. Rathnayake noted that there has been a decrease in the number of cases of tuberculosis reported during the past few years.
