UPDATE : MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage released on bail

) -  Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage who was arrested by the FCID earlier today was released on bail after he was produced before the Fort Magistrate's court. He was released on a cash bail of Rs. 35,000 and two sureties of Rs 500,000 each. Court ordered the former minister to refrain from overseas travel and also ordered him to appear before court once more on the 11th of may. Mahindananda Aluthgamage was arrested by the Police FCID this morning after he provided a statement to them. He has been accused of misappropriating 39 Million Rupees of Sathosa funds in order to import sporting goods which were distributed for political reasons.
