Lufthansa, one of the main airlines in Europe has canceled “more than 800 flights" today (April 10) as public-sector workers engaged in a strike for more pay, hobbling major airports like Frankfurt. Issuing a statement Lufthansa Airlines said that service would be back to normal tomorrow (April 11). The Frankfurt airport warned on its website of "significant delays and cancellations" affecting many airlines. Today's "warning strike" also had an impact on the Munich, Cologne and Bremen airports. Major union Verdi said its walkouts between April 10 and 13  are aimed at "increasing pressure" on employers to "allow public sector workers a share in good economic performance" in Europe's largest economy, where tax income has surged as the pace of growth has picked up.
