Nawalapitiya and Bulathsinhala Police OICs transferred, questions raised on political influence

COLOMBO (News 1^st) – OICs from four police stations have been given transfers with immediate effect with the approval from the National Police Commission. Police Media Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the transfers were given based on service requirements. The OICs from Nawalapitiya, Hettipola, Bulathsinhala, and Kothmale have been thus given transfers. On the 10th of March UNP, MP Ananda Aluthgamage protested opposite the Nawalapitiya Police demanding the OIC be transferred. He alleged the Police did not take action to provide the MP with fuel for his vehicle from a filling station that was closed for the day. For a period of 05 days from the 10th of February UNP Deputy Minister Palitha Theraverapperuwa demonstrated in the Bulathsinhala Town against the OIC of the Bulathsinhala Police.
