COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Unemployed Graduate Association states that the number of unemployed graduates in the country has risen up to 53,000.
Its Convener Venerable Thanne Gnananda Thero said that the government has no specific program to provide employment for them.
Further, he added that there are over 60000 vacancies in the government at present.
When News 1st inquired about this from the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Management J.J. Rathnasiri, he said that the graduates expecting only state employment were an unproductive action.
He stated that the unemployed graduates do not make applications for the vacancies.
Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena recently said a program to provide employment for all the unemployed graduates will be implemented soon.
