Cholombo Chief Magistrate recalls the arrest warrants issued for MP's Wimal Weerawansa and Jayantha Samaraweera

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Ranasinghe recalled today (March 20), the warrants for the arrest of National Freedom Front Leader MP Wimal Weerawansa and MP Jayantha Samaraweera. The warrants were recalled as MP's Wimal Weerawansa and Jayantha Samaraweera, who failed to be present in court yesterday (March 19), had appeared in court today (March 20). Upon recalling the warrants, the Magistrate had advised both MP's to appear in court at the appointed time in the future. Both MP's have been charged with acting in a manner which inconvenienced the public while protesting against the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the 6th of February 2016. Meanwhile, UPFA Gampaha District Parliamentarian Prasanna Ranaweera has been ordered into remand custody until the 22nd of this month by the Mahara Magistrate's Court. The MP was remanded for failing to appear in court over an assault case against him.
