COLOMBO (News 1st) - At the 37th UN Human Rights Council Session in Geneva, Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative in Geneva Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha spoke on the progress Sri Lanka has made.

The Sri Lankan delegation attending the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council departed for Geneva today (March 19).
The delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Tilak Marapona, Special Assignments Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama and the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Mustapha.
The delegation includes officials of the Foreign Ministry, the Attorney General's Department and the Co-ordinating Secretariat for Reconciliation Mechanisms.
Meanwhile, the Director of International Affairs of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress A.M. Faiz has also left for Geneva.
A report on progress made by Sri Lanka following the adoption of resolution 30/1 at the HRC on 23rd March 2017 is to be presented to the council.
Sri Lanka's permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha noted that the High Commissioner for Human Rights would present a report on Sri Lanka to the Council, the day after tomorrow.
The report has been titled promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran has departed for the US to meet with officials at the Department of State.
The TNA Media Unit noted that during the visit, the TNA's stance on the UN Human Rights Council session concerning human rights in Sri Lanka would be clarified to the US government.
