COLOMBO (News 1st) – State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, Harsha de Silva attended an opening ceremony in the Kotte electorate.

There he was questioned on the Joint Opposition’s present work on the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.

Responding to this he stated that their stance is very clear and that the UNP will not sign a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.

He further stated that it will not happen and that many within the UNP are of the view that there should be some changes in the UNP leadership.

State Min. Harsha de Silva was further questioned on the various means that are being formulated to fix the country’s economy.

He said that the people told them to catch the thieves and in order to do that they need to consider the facts whether these thieves are blue, green, red or yellow.

Further, he said that the people are waiting till we do that and that everybody is aware that when a case is filed against someone, there is some order to not to arrest the individual when a case is taken up, it is adjourned for four months and then six months.

“Now the people are asking where are the thieves. This is why we are amending the law to instill a permanent trial-at-bar, in order to speed up the legal procedure.”
