COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Schools which were closed during the recent unrest in Kandy have re-opened today.
Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake said, authorities have been advised to re-open the schools today (12th March), due to the prevailing peaceful environment. Furthermore, he stated that a decision is due to be made on the additional days schools will need to be open for the student to catch up on studies.
Schools in the Kandy administrative district were shut down on the last Tuesday (March 6th) following the riots erupted in the area.
