COLOMBO (News 1st) - The tri-force members are not allowed to post pictures in uniforms on the Facebook or any other social media platform, the Army Spokesperson Brigadier Sumith Atapattu commented.
Recently the Army has issued a circular to all personnel reinforcing the order which was already imposed several months ago.
The Brigadier, further said that if military personnel acts against the rule, the disciplinary actions will be taken against them.
The Commander of Sri Lanka Army, Mahesh Senanayake has given special instructions to the officers in charge to enforce the law strictly.
In several countries including the UK, the military has imposed restrictions on the use of social media for troops. In the UK, posting information on the internet through blogging and joining in forum discussions are restricted to military considering they may have adverse consequences on national security.
