Nidahas Trophy: Sri Lanka starts the campaign with a comprehensive win.

COLOMBO (News 1st) -  The first game of the "Nidahas Trophy" Twenty 20 series which is taking place to commemorate the 70th Independence Day celebration of Sri Lanka, concluded leaving a comprehensive win for host Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal invited India to bat first after winning the toss in front of a jam-packed crowd at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. India which leads by Rohith Sharma couldn't make a successful start as they lose two quick wickets within 2 overs.  Opener Shikhar Dhawan and Middle-order batsman Manish Pandey put a brave 95 run partnership for the 3rd wicket to lift India into the game. India scored 174 runs for 5 wickets in the quota of 20 overs leaving 175 runs Target for Sri Lanka. Kusal Janith Perera put a great show by scoring a quick half-century(66) as the top scorer of the Sri Lankan camp. Sri Lanka chased the target of 175 to win the game with 9 deliveries left with only 5 wickets down. Most significantly this victory against India was after 7  consecutive loses in Twenty20 Internationals. India will play against Bangladesh in the 2nd game of the tournament on 8th (Thursday) at R. Premadasa Stadium Colombo.
