COLOMBO News 1st: The Human-Elephant conflict has been a serious issue for villagers in rural parts of Sri Lanka for a long time now.
The authorities have failed to come up with a solution for this problem, despite the continuous wild-elephant attacks on villages.
To solve this burning issue, the villagers of Wellweli Yanesi Kattuwel in Batticaloa district have come up with a strange, yet effective idea.
They have begun to cultivate beehives near the village borders with the purpose of keeping the elephants away from the village.
The Red Cross Organization helped villagers cultivate beehives around the village border.
