The European Union has sounded a warning on children's toys which could contain high levels of arsenic. In recent investigations, it has been found that some children have consumed arsenic in dangerous levels, while playing with toys. In several of such incidents the toys in question did not include the CE mark, to confirm that it is being produced after meeting the required safety levels. The European Union's Rapid Alert System Website for consumer products has requested the distributors to remove such toys from distribution channels. Consumption of arsenic could cause cancer and developmental neurotoxicity.
