Despite the UN ceasefire call, Syrian government troops launched attacks in the Eastern Ghouta area. Paying no respect for the UN Security Council call for truce, forces of President Bashar al-Assad continued military operations in Eastern Ghouta.

Warplanes continued to bombard the rebel-held area on Sunday for the consecutive eighth day, while the troops fought from several fronts.

The rebel groups declared that they will act according to the ceasefire, but will respond to aggressive movements from government forces.
