COLOMBO (News1st) – According to the BBC Sinhala Service, Cabinet approval has been granted to temporarily suspend the provision of Tablet computers for G.C.E. Advanced Level teachers and students.According to the BBC Sinhala Service, the project was suspended following a request made by President Maithripala Sirisena.
According to the report, cabinet had agreed to the president’s statement that incurring a cost of four billion rupees for such a project is not reasonable. News 1st spoke to Co-cabinet Spokesperson, Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and he said a committee will be appointed to review all projects before implementation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has decided to suspend the outbound training programme for school principals until the investigation into the death of a school principal concludes.The Ministry stated that its secretary has been instructed by the Subject Minister to conduct an investigation into the incident.
