New South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has spoken of a "new dawn" in his first State of the Nation address.
“We should put all the negativity behind us because a new dawn is upon us,” Mr Ramaphosa said, a day after replacing Jacob Zuma, who resigned under a cloud of corruption allegations.
The 65-year-old was confirmed as the country's new leader on Thursday just hours after his scandal-plagued predecessor Jacob Zuma finally resigned.
