Arjuna Mahendran required to give statement to CID today

COLOMBO (News1st): Former Central Bank Governor, Arjuna Mahendran, who was named as a suspect in the bond scam, has not yet made any statement to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) as ordered. Colombo Fort Magistrate, Lanka Jayaratne ordered the former Central Bank Governor, Arjuna Mahendran who was in Singapore, on February 02, to make a statement before the CID before Thursday, February 15, following the conclusion of  the Presidential Inquiry into the 2015 bond transaction. Former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran, CEO of Perpetual Treasuries Limited Kasun Palisena and Arjun Aloysius were named as suspects in the bond scam after they were produced before Colombo Fort Magistrate, Lanka Jayaratne. Accordingly, the Fort Magistrate has taken steps to issue a notice to Arjuna Mahendran who was in Singapore at the time, via the international police, to make a statement before the CID before today. The Fort Magistrate also directed the Immigration Department to inform the CID when Arjuna Mahendran arrived in Sri Lanka.Arjuna Aloysius and Kasun Palisena who were arrested on February 4, are still being held in  remand custody.
