COLOMBO (News1st) – While farmers in Panduwasnuwara suffer from the lack of water for cultivation, other maize farmers are at wit’s end as they do not have a fixed price for their harvest.
The principal occupation of the residents of Kurunegala, Anuradhapura and several other areas is paddy cultivation.
However, they have been cultivating maize for the past few seasons due to the lack of water, and have had a good yield. However, they have not received a standard price.
Hence, the farmers request authorities to provide a proper price for their harvest which was cultivated amidst several obstacles.
When the Secretary of the State Ministry of Agriculture was questioned in this regard, he said that the problem will be brought to the notice of the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, today.
