Police to take legal action over post-election rallies

Police say that legal action would be taken against all those who engage in rallies during the post election period. According to Police Media Spokesperson, ASP Ruwan Gunesekara, all political parties have been requested to refrain from engaging in rallies for a week. Furthermore, election monitors have stated that a number of cases of election violence has been reported during the post election period. According to the Executive Director of PAFFREL, Rohana Hetiarachchi, seven individuals have been hospitalised following incidents of post election violence.
