Officials and the ballot boxes for the upcoming local government elections were dispatched to the polling centres.

According to the Elections Commission, ballot boxes were transported under the monitoring of district returning officers.

Our correspondent reports that preparations are nearing the final stage. and that the  district returning officers are expecting to complete the distribution of the ballot boxes by this (Feb 9) evening.

Furthermore, the National Complaints Unit of the Elections Commission will open hotlines to receive complaints from 6tomorrow (Feb 10)

The complaints hotlines are as follows:

• Uva Province : 011 2 86 65 04

In addition to this, a police complaints unit has also been established at the Elections Commission.
