Ministry of Education states that all schools in the country will be closed on February 9  in line with the Local Government Election.

In addition, nineteen other schools will be closed from tomorrow, February 7.

Accordingly the schools that will be closed are as follows:

• Royal College, Colombo
• D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo
• Gnanodhaya Maha Vidyala, Kaluthara
• St. John’s College, Panadura
• Royal College, Kandy
• Sangamiththa College, Matale
• Gamini National School, Nuwara Eliya
• Southland College, Galle
• Suchi National College, Hambantota
• Central College, Jaffna
• Hindu College, Batticaloa
• Vipulananda College, Trincomalee
• Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala
• Sir John Kothalawala College, Kurunegala
• Hindu College, Puttlam
• Central College, Anuradhapura
• Viharamahadevi College, Badulla
• Royal College, Monaragala
• Swarna Jayanthi Central College, Kegalle

Furthermore, according to the statement issued by the Ministry of Education, the  Pannala Gedara National Institue of Education, Gampaha and Pulathisi National Institute of Education will also be closed from tomorrow February 7 till Friday, February 9.
