Warning over election propaganda activities as midnight nears

COLOMBO (Newsfirst): The time period granted for election propaganda activities of the upcoming Local Government Election, ends at midnight today.

Additional Elections Commissioner, Saman Sri Ratnayake said all the secretaries of the political parties and the candidates have been informed about this measure. Accordingly, legal action could be taken against any individual who engages in propaganda activities after midnight today. Ratnayake further noted that if such a candidate is elected for the local government, they will be removed from their positions.This law will thereby be in effect until February 11. Meanwhile, issuing a communique, the Police Headquarters notes that all police stations have been informed to take strict legal action against those who violate this regulation.
