Two senior citizens have been stabbed to death in Poddala. According to the police, the victims were a 75 year old man and his 65 year old sister.

The elderly couple were killed last night  in Poddala. The victims have been identified as Jayanama Jagoda and his sister Malini Jagoda.

Following a tip-off received  from an estate worker ,police had found the woman fallen near a house with laceration marks. Her brother had been found on the ground near the gate.

The estate worker, Lechchaman Kandasamy, stated that when he came in the morning the gate was locked and when he tried calling the couple, they never answered.

“So I crept in and looked around. I found him on the ground. They recorded a statement from me. But I know nothing. I am only a worker here. I work during the day and leave in the evening”, said the estate worker,  Lechchaman Kandasami.

The victims were unmarried. It was discovered that another visually-impaired sibling was living with them.

The bodies were taken to the morgue of the  Karapitiya Teaching Hospital Morgue. Details of this double homicide and suspects have not been uncovered.
