Former Parliamentarian and Coordinating Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Anuruddha Polgampola defected and pledged support to the President on Saturday, January 13.
According to the President’s Media Division, several candidates put forward by the Podujana Peramuna to contest the upcoming local government elections, along with a number of district activists met with the president on Friday and pledged their support.
Kalutara District Executive Committee Member of the National Freedom Front, Premalal Fonseka, called on the president on Saturday and pledged his support.
Balapitiya Liyanage Ajith, a Podujana Peramuna candidate contesting for the Lunugamvehera Pradeshiya Sabha and several others called on the Deputy Leader of the United National Party, Minister Sajith Premadasa and pledged allegiance.
