His Holiness Pope Francis has conferred a Papal Knighthood on Clive Leach.
Clive Leach was a Group Director and Deputy Chairman of the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited. The honorary title makes Clive Leach, a member of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St Gregory the Great. The Order of St. Gregory is one of the five pontifical orders of Knighthood in the Catholic Church.
Clive Leach was awarded the Papal Knighthood in recognition of the faithful and devoted service given to supporting the mission of the catholic church through publications and media communication. He has been chairman of the Universe Media Group, Publishers of “The Universe”, The Catholic Times and the Official Catholic Directory of England and Wales.
In 2000, Leach was awarded the Honorary title of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire – CBE. In his younger years Clive Leach was a first, class cricketer and played 39 first-class matches and five List A matches.
Leach made his first-class debut for Warwickshire Cricket Club against Cambridge University in 1955. Following the end of his cricketing years he began in a career in television eventually retiring in 1993 as Chairman of Yorkshire TyneTees. Leach also served as Chairman of Leeds Health Authority.
Clive Leach returned to the cricketing world in 2004 as the chairman of the Durham Cricket Club, retiring in 2016.
