The Archaeological Department has taken steps to conserve the fort in Kayts Island which is around 500 years old.
The Department said, a special team has been assigned to the island currently to take relevant measures in this regard.
The Kayts Island fort was built by the Portuguese in 1505 and was later abandoned.
In the late 1600s, when the Dutch took over the Kayts Island fort, it was further expanded.
