General amnesty period for army deserters comes to an end

The period of General Amnesty that was in effect for all army deserters – and the tri forces in general – which was issued on October 23, concludes today, November 22.

Twelve army officers and nine cadet officers have legally resigned from their positions since the inception of the amnesty period, along with another 10091 officers belonging to other ranks of the military.

According to Army Media Spokesperson, Major General Roshan Seneviratne, the operation will get underway today, November 22, to apprehend all military officials who had vacated their positions without formal resignation.
