Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana said steps have been taken to bring back Sri Lankans who are currently in detention camps, without having received Australian citizenship.

The minister made this remark while responding to a question raised by MP Buddhika Pathirana.

The minister further noted that those who are currently residing in detention camps have been identified as Sri Lankans who attempted to migrate to Australia illegally via boats.

According to him, individuals who have been denied residence in Australia are currently detained in detention camps located in the Christmas islands, Papua New Guinea, Central Australian Islands and Nauru.
