An order to summon the president’s former secretary, P.B. Abeykoon, was given to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption by the Colombo Chief Magistrate. The order was made as the former secretary to the president is a witness in a case filed against MP Johnston Fernando.
This move is due to the Assets Declaration of Members of Parliament issued by P.B. Abeykoon during his tenure of office as the president’s secretary.
The document was presented before court as evidence to the case.
Asset declarations of parliamentarians available at the Presidential Secretariat are to be produced before court on an order made by Colombo Chief Magistrate, Lal Ranasinghe Bandara.
A case was filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against MP Johnston Fernando as he was unable to declare his assets during the period from 2010 to 2014.
