The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, has announced that measures have been taken to provide the Norochcholai Power Plant with a wind shield to prevent the spread of coal remnants.

Media spokesperson for the Ministry, Sulakshama Jayawardena, said that the complaints were lodged, citing that coal ashes had been spreading to houses nearby.

The decision was reached after taking these reasons into consideration.

The government has also focussed its attention on expanding the Norochcholai Power Plant, and  land estimations have begun.
