The National Audit Bill drafted by the Auditor General has been submitted to the Secretary General of Parliament.
JVP Parliamentarian and COPE Chairman Sunil Handunnetti submitted the draft, which is to be tabled as a private member’s motion.
According to the Chairman of COPE, he submitted the draft with all content intact as the cabinet is continuously delaying the NAB tabling in Parliament.
“I submitted the Audit Bill drafted before the cabinet of ministers amend it”, MP Handunnetti said.
“I believe that this is an essential factor in controlling state finances and if the cabinet fails to bring this bill to parliament, now the party leaders can decide to table this private member’s motion in parliament and adopt it.”
