CERT says 2,500 complaints lodged over harassment via social media

The computer emergency response team says that more than 2500 complaints have been lodged, in the past nine months, with connections to various incidents of harassment that took place across social media platforms.

Engineer Roshan Chandraguptha said that the highest number of complaints were lodged regarding Facebook.

When News1st made an inquiry, in this regard, from the Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission,  it was stated that a number of school children are being harassed on social media, and that they are taking necessary steps to curb such incidents, taking into account the advice of the president.
