Met Dept predicts cloudy skies and more rain

Issuing its weather forecast for today, the Met Department predicts that prevailing showers, particularly in the Southwestern part of the country are expected to continue. Cloudy skies can be expected.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern Provinces.

Heavy rains of around 100-150 mm, are expected at some places, particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in Galle and Matara Districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur in the Northern Province during the morning and fairly heavy falls of about 75-100 mm also expected at some places.

Similarly, showers may occur elsewhere particularly after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy rains of about 75-100 mm are expected, particularly in the Uva Province and in Ampara and Batticaloa Districts.

Fairly strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can also be expected in the Southern Province.
