The interim report compiled by the Constitutional Steering Committee has been presented to the constitutional council today.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe holds the post of Chairman of the Constitutional Steering Committee.
The commitee that comprises of 21 members have previously convened for discussions on 73 occasions.
The committee held discussions on the executive, devolution of power and the election system.
Opinions of chief ministers and other experts in the field were obtained by the committee.
However, the activities of the steering committee had been critisised in parliament on a number of occasions.
The secretariat of the constitutional council said that objections raised by members of the main political parties represented in the steering committee, as well as their views and suggestions, have been included in the interim report.
