A special Dengue Eradication Programme is to be carried out on August 24 and 25, targeting the North and East.
Consultant Community Physician Dr. Preshila Samaraweera stated that this decision was taken owing to the increasing threat of Dengue.
She said that there was a risk of an increase in Dengue-related deaths in the North and East owing to the onset of monsoon rains.
During the past year, around 350 Dengue-related deaths, and up to 132,000 Dengue patients have been reported countrywide.
