The Attorney General has certified that the draft of the National Audit Bill is in line with the constitution of Sri Lanka.
When News 1st made inquiries from Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya, he said the certification was issued Wednesday evening. The Attorney General added that the certification is set to be submitted to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the legal draftsman.
The introduction of the New National Audit Bill was one of the promises made by the government of good governance to overcome the corruption in the state sector. Although cabinet approval was granted for the proposed draft of the National Audit Bill on the April 29, 2015, it was amended on several occasions.
