The procession to celebrate the Hindu Aadivel festival, in honour of Lord Muruga commenced from the Kathiresan Kovil in Kurunegala this morning.
The procession is organised together with the MTV/MBC Media Network.
The vehicular procession carrying a replica of the ‘Vael’ from Thiruchendur, a golden spear of the deity, commenced following religious observances at the Kathiresan Kovil in Kurunegala.
The coloirful procession reached the Sri Siva Subramaniya Kovil in Jinthupitiya. passing Ambepussa, Warakapola, Nittambuwa, Kadawatha, Kiribathgoda, Kelaniya and Hekitta.
The procession will arrive at The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited head office in Braybrooke Place, Colombo 02 on Saturday August 5.
Many religious programmes and musical shows would be held on that day at the head office premises. A special pooja will also be held to invoke blessings on students sitting for the grade five scholarship examination this year.
