Colombo District Secretary Sunil Kannangara said they will commence the issuing of the Rs. 50,000 allowance from today, April 24, to those asked to evacuate the Meethotamulla high risk zone.
He said they will be given the allowance in addition to new permanent housing, and that a survey is being conducted to see how many more houses are required.The District Secretary noted that 201 people are to be evacuated from the high risk zone in Meethotamulla.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education says that steps have been taken to transfer students studying at Kolonnawa Rahula College to Terrence N. De. Silva College.
Western Province Minister Ranjith Somawansa said there are 100 students at Rahula College adding that the teachers and the Principal of Kolonnawa Rahula College will also be transferred to Terrence N. De. Silva College.
The Ministry further noted that steps have also been taken to provide books and other facilities to students of Rahula College.
