The Prime Minister and his delegation were welcomed by a group including a special advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister, Hiroto Izumi, and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Japan, Professor Dhammika Gaganath.
The Premier is scheduled to deliver a special address at the annual Conference on Science and Technology in Kyoto.
The Japanese Premier, functions as the Chairman of this conference.
Prime Minister Wickremesinghe will participate in a number of bi-lateral discussions during his visit.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe left for Japan on an official visit on Monday, April 10. The Prime Minister’s Office said that the Premier is also set to meet with his Japanese counterpart Shinzō Abe.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to attend several programmes which are of significance to to both countries.
A ten-member delegation including, Minister of Special Assignment, Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama and Member of Parliament, Professor Ashu Marasinghe, have also joined the visit.
