Members of five trade unions belonging to the Paramedics Services commenced a 24 hour token strike at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Members of several unions including pharmacists, radiologists and therapists have joined the strike action.
Chairman of the Paramedical Services Trade Union Federation, Ajith P. Thilakaratne said that the strike is being launched as a result of the failure of health authorities to provide solutions to their demands. He also added add that the strike will be conducted in several hospitals.
